Zicam Lawsuit Lawyers

On June 16, 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, issued a public advisory urging consumers to discontinue use of the popular over-the-counter cold remedy Zicam. Use of Zicam Nasal Gel and Zicam Nasal Swabs products, both manufactured by Matrixx Initiatives, Inc., may lead to permanent or long-lasting loss of the sense of smell (anosmia). If you have suffered loss of smell due to using Zicam, you may be entitled to compensation. Contact the Zicam lawyers at Estey& Bomberger today and find out your legal rights.

Zicam and Anosmia Loss of Smell Associated with Zicam Intranasal Gel

Anosmia, the total loss of the ability to smell, can change your quality of life and limit your ability to detect smoke or other harmful odors that may endanger you. According to the FDA, anosmia associated with Zicam Nasal Gel and Zicam Nasal Swabs may be permanent. Since 1999, the FDA has received about 130 reports of loss of smell due to using Zicam Cold Remedy products. Some consumers reported loss of smell after just one dose; others reported loss of smell occurred after multiple uses of Zicam Cold Remedy products. The damage is likely linked to the active ingredient zinc, which can permanently damage olfactory nerve receptors needed for smell.
